WildPlay in the Community

At WildPlay we believe that being an active part of our community is part of doing business. We are committed to helping build stronger communities by participating in local initiatives and directly supporting organizations that are working to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity, healthy play and a healthy environment. WildPlay offers a range of support programs to benefit local organizations in and around our parks.

Donation Programs:

Charity of Choice

Every two years WildPlay partners with a regional charity, selecting an organization that is actively working to improve access to outdoor activities and the natural environment, especially for children and youth. The selected organization receives $10,000 worth of activity passes as well as a variety of other support, depending on what best fits the organization’s needs. Partner organizations are able to use the passes in a fundraising raffle or auction, for a special activity day, to reward volunteers or donors, for mentoring programs or in a combination of programs and fundraising. Partner organizations are selected through a written application process and are announced every two years.

Activity Pass Program

WildPlay’s Activity Pass Program is designed to support smaller initiatives and a wider range of community activities. Charities, non-profits and educational institutions from Nanaimo, Victoria and Whistler areas involved in fitness and environmental pursuits are invited to apply online for activity passes to be used in raffles, silent auctions and other fundraising activities. Corporate Sponsorships

WildPlay gives up to three cash or in-kind sponsors per year per park. In 2008, WildPlay supported the Victoria Hospice Swimathon and the Victoria MS Society’s Dragon Boat Team, the WildPlay Warriors.

Raise Fun Fundraising Program for PACs

WildPlay has developed a fundraising program for Parent Advisory Committees that also encourages physical activity. When PACs sign up for the Raise Fun program they choose a four-week timeframe to promote the purchase of WildPlay activity passes. Passes are purchased through the WildPlay shop and purchasers enter a unique code to direct 10% of the purchase to the PAC. Purchasers also receive 10% off WildPlay activities as an incentive to support the program. Passes may be purchased for all four WildPlay activities and passes are valid for one year.

Staff Community Support Program

WildPlay recognizes the value of staff contributing/volunteering to local community groups. WildPlay employees can request activity passes be donated to causes that they are directly involved with for fundraising events, or choose to participate as a team to support a local cause’s event. In the latter case, WildPlay covers the cost of entry or contributes to the team fundraising effort. Only WildPlay staff can apply for this program.
